Bucky was Captain America's sidekick during World War II. Bucky was believed to have been killed during the war but was resurrected years later as a brainwashed assassin called the Winter Soldier.

During Captain America and Bucky's last mission together they jumped onto a drone plane that was launched by Baron Zemo that was headed toward Germeny. As the drone exploded Captain America fell into the ocean. Bucky was trapped on the drone and was believed to have been killed.
However, Bucky did survive and his body was recovered by the Soviet Union. Soviet scientists experimented on Bucky and turned him into a super soldier. In the explosion Bucky had lost one of his arms and the scientists replaced it with a bionic one. The Soviet Union brainwashed Bucky into becoming an assassin that infamously became known as the Winter Soldier. In the present Captain America learned that Bucky was alive and was able to free from his brainwashing.

Bucky only appeared as the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers - Ultimate Heroes video game. In the series Bucky only appeared in flashbacks to World War II.
