The Walt Disney Animation Studios is a division of The Walt Disney Company. They produced Big Hero 6 and are making the tie-in animated series Big Hero 6: The Series.
The company has previously been known as Walt Disney Feature Animation, Walt Disney Productions, and Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.
History[]
The company was founded on October 16th, 1923. The company started producing shorts before making the feature length Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.
The company experienced problems during World War II before producing several classics afterwards. However, after the death of Walt Disney the company began to suffer.
Eventually, the 1990s brought about what became known as the Disney Renaissance, where the company produced several hit movies. Beauty & the Beast became the first animated feature to be nominated for Best Picture Oscar.
The company declined again before purchasing Pixar Animation Studios. In recent years, the studio as seen another resurgence in popularity.
