Sony Pictures Entertainment's latest film Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse is taking the world by storm. They have already confirmed one sequel and at least one spin-off, but more may be coming. Speaking to The New York Times, a Sony spokesman has said they are looking into bringing the characters from the film onto television.

This could be a complicated issues. Fans may remember that after The Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel Entertainment, Sony Pictures Televison relinquished the rights to make series on the character in order to maintain the film rights. This put The Spectacular Spider-Man into a rights limbo thus spelling its end. It's possible that Sony could make a deal with Marvel to share the television rights, much as they do the film rights, or it could be that Marvel alone would make any series with just input from Sony.
