Today is Mother's Day, honoring one's own mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. There have, of course, been many mothers in the Marvel Universe, though not all of them have been seen in animation.
- Mary Parker and Madeline Watson both appeared in flashbacks on Spider-Man, while the show's fifth season dealt with Peter clearing the names of both parents. And there's always his relationship with his adopted mother, Aunt May.
- Felicia Hardy's mother Anastasia was a recurring character on Spider-Man.
- Several episodes of X-Men dealt with Mystique and her relationships to her biological children Nightcrawler and Graydon Creed Jr. as well as adopted daughter Rogue.
- Jubilee had a foster mother named Martha.
- Julia Carpenter's daughter Rachel was on Iron Man in several episodes.
- Thor's mother Frigga appeared in The Super Hero Squad Show.
- Tony Stark's mother Maria was briefly mentioned in The Invincible Iron Man.
- Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow made mothers out of Black Widow, Wasp, Storm, Sif, and Mockingbird.
- The Monster of Frankenstein featured Elizabeth Frankenstein, mother of Emily.
- In Big Hero 6, Hiro and Tadashi's parents were dead but they had their aunt and adopted mother Cass to take care of them.
- Marvel's most famous mother has yet to appear in animation as a mother. Had Fantastic Four gone on for a third season, Invisible Woman would have been shown getting pregnant and having Franklin. Franklin briefly appeared in Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, though without any connection to Susan.
- Rachel Summers and Cable were on X-Men, but again without any apparent connection to Jean Grey.
- Rio Morales, the mother of the second Spider-Man Miles Morales, appeared in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
