Deadpool's Kirsten Dunst, Dopinder, will finally get the chance to be the hero. Actor Karan Soni has been cast as the Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Soni said of the casting, "Still can’t believe I get to be Spidey!! 🕷️😭🙏🏾" According to sources, Pavitr will have a significant role in the film. This marks the Indian Spider-Man's first appearance in film or television.
Soni is no stranger to Marvel, having played taxi driver and would-be contract killer Dopinder in the two Deadpool films. He has also appeared in works including Safety Not Guaranteed, The Middle, 2016's Ghostbusters with Chris Hemsworth, The Goldbergs with Wendi McLendon-Covey, Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Terry Crews and Melissa Fumero, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, Will & Grace, Trolls 2: World Tour, Big Mouth, and Walt Disney Animation Studios's Strange World.
