Today is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the premiere of Angels in the Outfield. A remake of the 1951 film, the movie follows a foster child who prays for the hopeless Anaheim Angels to win the pennant so he can reunited with his estranged father only to find God answering him.
It was produced by The Walt Disney Company, who also owned a minority of the real life Angels baseball team. The movie was a bomb with critics and a moderate success at the box office. It spawned two direct-to-video sequels.
The film features the talents of Neal McDonough as Angels pitcher Whitt Bass.
