Today is the twentieth anniversary of the premiere of Malcolm in the Middle. The series followed the misadventures of a boy genius as he navigates his high intelligence and dysfunctional family. The series lasted from January 9th, 2000 to May 14th, 2006. It lasted one-hundred fifty-one episodes across seven seasons.
The show was extremely popular during its run. It received nearly universal acclaim from critics. It proved to be a massive draw for Fox Broadcasting Company. The series won seven Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award. Unfortunately, due to the high costs of music clearances the series is not available for home video purchase beyond the first season. It has been on several streaming services and was announced to appear on Disney+.
The series included the talents of Scott Adsit as an attorney, Andy Richter as Dr. Kennedy, John Eric Bentley as Charlie, Nolan North as Leonard Nimoy, Mark L. Taylor as Phil, Lawrence Mandley as a security guard, Clyde Kusatsu as an ice cream man, Adam Hendershott as Cadet Adam, and Michael Horse as Steve.
