A troll is a species genetically engineered by the Kree to be slaves.
History
The trolls were created as a slave labor force. Several were on the planet Morovus. Silver Surfer landed on the planet and befriended Pip and Kili. Silver Surfer learned about the origin of the Trolls and freed them. Pip came with him and found the Universal Library. Pip then went off with Drax.
Background
In the comics, the trolls have the official name of Laxidazians.
The concept that Trolls are genetically engineered to be Kree slaves is original to Silver Surfer. In the comics, they are simply their own species.
