The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story is a short video that serves as a prequel to the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Synopsis

Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend and student while acting as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood superhero. After a particularly challenging day living with these pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil.

Background

The Spider Within was shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2023. At the time there was no announced date for a wide release. The short was later uploaded to the Sony Pictures Animation YouTube channel on March 27, 2024.
