The character is only known as Margaret in the 90s show. The article should thus be renamed to "Margaret Connors," and the intro reworded, as it inaccurately implies that "Martha" is a nickname used by the character. Alternatively, a new article with this name could be created and the content moved there instead, then move the corresponding Spectacular Spider-Man character info here, whichever is more convenient. --Bluerock (talk) 22:50, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
- You are correct that Spider-Man always calls her Margaret. Though next time you should point this out on the talk page before changing all the articles. Because if you happened to be wrong then all those articles would have to be changed back.
- And no, we're not moving the Spectacular article. All articles from other continuities keep their parenthetical. In this instance, Martha will just redirect to Margaret.--ARTaylor 04:13, December 8, 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for moving the article. No need to worry about these particular edits of mine though, as they were made with a high degree of confidence, if not absolute certainty, given that both episode and character articles themselves explained the name being changed from the comics. Therefore, I was actually correcting a big inconsistency, rather than solely relying on memory (though it does help that Spider-Man is practically burned into my brain). :-)
- Also, I agree about bringing up such topics on the talk page early on, to avoid potential reader confusion, which is why I proposed renaming the character page before making changes to any further articles (this is also the reason why I only edited the visible text on the episode article and not any underlying links). If I hadn't been so sure, then of course I would have brought it up prior to making any changes at all, so you are right that this would be the normal course of action.
