THX is an audio reproduction company that worked on the audio for Iron Man.
History[]
The company was created by Lucasfilm to ensure that George Lucas's film Star Wars: Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi would be accurately reproduced in theaters. It was named after Lucas's first film THX 1138.
The company became famous for its iconic low pitch rumble used in trailers for the company, known as "Deep Note".
The company's involvement with Iron Man was unusual for the time. While THX was commonplace for film it was rare for television.
In 2002, the company was sold to sound cart manufacturer Creative Technology Limited. In 2016, it was sold to the video game hardware company Razer Inc. along with all its intellectual property.
