Eventually, T'Chaka received a challenge from M'baku the Man-Ape for his throne and the Kingship of Wakanda. His son T'Challa did not want for his father to engage in the fight with Man-Ape. However, T'Chaka stated that he had to fight Man-Ape due to tradition and said that the Black Panther tribe have always managed to defeat the White Gorilla tribe. T'Chaka engaged in the fight with M'Baku and managed to gain the upper hand. However, Man-Ape had cheated through the use of Klaw's Sonic Disruptor in order to weaken T'Chaka.
