Stephen J. Ditko (born November 2, 1927; died June 27, 2018) is a writer who wrote episodes of The Marvel Super Heroes and Spider-Man. He is comic book writer artist who helped create Marvel Comics characters including Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.

He is credited for his work on The Marvel Super Heroes, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, X-Men, Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Planet Hulk, Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers, Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.


Ditko worked as an inker for Jack Kirby. He made major contributions to Iron Man and Hulk. He also worked on a number of DC Comics and co-created Question, Creeper, Hawk and Dove, and Shade, the Changing Man.

Ditko passed away on June 27th, 2018 at the age of ninety in his New York City apartment. He was found by the New York Police Department on the 29th and is believed to have been dead for two days. No cause of death was announced. There are no known survivors and he is believed to never have married.[1]
