Norman Osborn is an industrialist that turned himself into the Green Goblin.
Biography[]
While working in his laboratory there was an explosion and Norman Osborn was exposed to an experimental gas. The gas gave Norman super strength. The gas also transformed Norman into a monstrous creature called the Green Goblin. Spider-Man fought and defeated Green Goblin and Norman returned to his normal self.
Shortly after the lab explosion, J. Jonah Jameson published a story in The Daily Bugle about unsafe work conditions at OsCorp. Because of Jonah's story no one wanted to work for Norman and he was forced to shut down his company.
Norman was then placed in a sanitarium where he received treatment for his Green Goblin condition. When Norman was apparently cured he was released. However, Norman was not cured and transformed into the Green Goblin again. However, after a fight with the Spider-Friends, Green Goblin transformed back into Norman Osborn, and Norman had no memory of transforming into Green Goblin. Norman then decided to return to the sanitarium to stay they until he was actually cured.
Three years later, Norman was in a train crash and this traumatic event caused Norman to transform into the Green Goblin again. As the Green Goblin, Norman tried to ruin Jameson's career. While fighting Spider-Man, Green Goblin was accidentally caught in an explosion. The explosion caused Green Goblin to transform back into Norman Osborn. Osborn also lost all memory of turning into the Green Goblin.

This is the first version of Norman Osborn outside the comics. Green Goblin appeared in Spider-Man but he only appeared in costume and was never called Norman Osborn.
Norman Osborn was featured in the Marvel Mash-Up shorts that aired on Disney XD.
