Biography[]

Nick Fury, along with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, went to a diner to speak with Tony Stark about joining the Avengers. Tony, who was dying from metal poisoning from his Arc Reactor, told Fury that he was not interested in joining his team. Natasha then injected Stark with lithium dioxide which was suppose to lessen the symptoms of his metal poisoning. However, Fury and Natasha were stunned then Tony passed out and fell onto the floor. Natasha checked Tony's pulse and realized that he was dead.

Fury knew that Natasha was innocent. Despite this, Natasha was placed under arrest by S.H.I.E.L.D. for Stark's murder. Before Natasha was taken away by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s S.T.R.I.K.E. Team, Fury secretly handed her the syringe she injected Stark with and told her that he needed someone on the outside that he could trust. Shortly after being taken away, Black Widow freed herself from her handcuffs, took out the S.T.R.I.K.E. agents, and escaped.

Later, Fury went to New Mexico where S.H.I.E.L.D. had put a perimeter around a hammer that was giving off powerful energy signatures. Later, when Thor broke into the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility to take back Mjolnir, Clint Barton got into position and took aim at Thor with his bow and arrow. Fury told Barton not to fire until he gave the order. However, against Fury's orders Barton shot Thor in the chest and killed him. Barton was then taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. Barton mysteriously died while being held in a S.H.I.E.L.D. cell.

After learning that Thor had been murdered on Earth, Loki went there. Upon arriving on the Earth, Loki, who had also brought the Asgardian military, was met by Nick Fury. Loki informed Fury that Asgard would conquer Earth as retribution for the death of Thor. Loki attacked Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. with the Casket of Ancient Winters, using it to freeze everything in its path in ice. However, Fury told Loki that the same person that killed Thor also killed two of his agents and suggested that they work together. Loki replied that Fury had until the next sun rise to deliver his brother's killer or else he would destroy Earth.

After doing some investigating Black Widow discovered that the assassinations were tied to Hope van Dyne who was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that was killed on a mission years earlier. Black Widow called Fury to inform him of this, but it went to his voicemail. Just then Natasha was attacked by and unseen assailant. While fighting for her life, Natasha left a message for Fury saying that "Hope is the key". Natasha was then murdered.

Nick Fury realized that Natasha was talking about Hope van Dyne, so Fury went to Hope's gravesite in San Francisco, California. A short while later Fury was approached by Hank Pym who was wearing an armored suit that allowed him to shrink to microscopic sizes. Hank Pym was the assassin that was killing the candidates for the Avengers and used his shrinking suit to do it. Hank explained to Fury that he was ruining his life's work because he blamed him for Janet and Hope's deaths. As Hank shrank down he tried to attack Fury. However, Fury swatted him away. Hank reverted to his normal size and fought Fury in hand to hand combat, but Fury was able to block all of his attacks. As Fury continued to dodge Hank's attacks, he also taunted him. To Hanks surprise, Fury also began to teleport around him. Then the entire area was filled with Nick Fury doppelgangers. As Hank tried to fly away he was mysteriously encased in ice. Nick Fury then revealed himself to be Loki in disguise. Fury and Loki hatched a plan to catch the real killer. As Loki and the real Nick Fury stood before Hank Pym, he was taken into custody.

Fury turned to Loki and told him that now that Thor's killer had been captured, he wanted him to leave Earth. However, Loki informed Fury that he was thinking about staying. The next day Loki addressed the United Nations General Assembly. Loki told them that they were made to be ruled. As Loki gave his speech Asgardian forces arrived on Earth with the intent to conquer the planet. With the rest of the Avengers candidates dead Fury located the frozen body of Captain America with the intent of thawing him out so he could join the Avengers and fight Loki. Fury also contacted Captain Marvel who arrived on Earth to help in the fight.

Nick Fury was voiced by Samuel L. Jackson who reprised the role from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
