Nichelle Nichols (born Grace Dell Nichols on December 28, 1932) is an American actress who played Miriam on Spider-Man. She is most famous for her role as Uhura in the Star Trek franchise.


Her most memorable role is Uhura in Star Trek, the animated series, and its first six subsequent films. She is noted as being involved in one of the first inter-racial kisses on television. Her role was widely praised including by civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. She was joined on the show by George Takei and Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, who were also on Spider-Man as Wong and Anna Watson respectively.

Other notable roles include The Lieutenant, Tarzan, Batman: The Animated Series, Gargoyles, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Futurama, Are We There Yet?, Heroes, Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster, Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, The Young and the Restless, and Renegades.
