Bordering the USA, Belize and Guatemala, Mexico's capital is Mexico City and it is home to a vast array of environments such as jungles and deserts, which are home to a vast array of animal life, such as monkeys, snakes, jaguars, parrots, eagles, tapirs, coyotes, lizards, toucans and sloths. The seas around the Mexican coast also support an array of biodiversity. Once the centre of the ancient Maya and Aztec civilizations, Mexico was conquered by the Spanish in the 16th century.
