Marvel Anime: Blade is a series that ran from July 1st to September 16th in 2011. It is the final series in the Marvel Anime Universe after Marvel Anime: Iron Man, Marvel Anime: Wolverine, and Marvel Anime: X-Men.
It is the first animated series to focus on the character Blade.
Wolverine appears in all four of the Marvel Anime series.
Animation was done by the Japanese company Madhouse. The animation is a combination of traditional animation with computer generated imagery.
Like the other Marvel Anime shows, the series lasted twelve episodes.
James Harvey of Marvel Animation Age felt the series was the best of the Marvel Anime titles. He felt that the creative team hit all right right notes. He enjoyed that while there were subplots throughout each episode was accessible on its own. He thought it had a better pace than the other series. He liked the different styles of vampires seen throughout and Blade's backstory. He noted that many characters told their origin the same way but didn't feel it was repetitive and only slowed the series down momentarily. He commended the animation, though it was occasionally weak. It felt it was as good as X-Men and the opposite of Wolverine. "Whether a fan of anime or Marvel Comics, this release is definitely Recommended to pick up. The madness of Blade’s world translates perfectly to the twisted stylings of anime, resulting in a visceral adventure that’s worth tagging along for!"
