Peter MJ Watch Spider-Man Tribute

"Worlds Apart, Part One" is the first episode of Spider-Man Unlimited and originally aired October 2nd, 1999. It is the first of the two-part series premiere. The episode was written by Michael Reaves and Will Meugniot. While the series was not originally intended to be a sequel to Spider-Man, this episode established connections with the previous series, such as using Joe Perry's theme music, while a producer would later state the entire series took place between "The Lizard King" and "The Prowler".

Colonel John Jameson (John Payne) is preparing to launch in the Solaris One space shuttle. John explains to the crowd of reporters that they discovered an Earth-like planet on the other side of the solar system they have dubbed Counter-Earth. When they sent a probe to the planet, through a warp ring they developed, the probe was destroyed. In the audience, J. Jonah Jameson (Richard Newman) is incredibly proud of his son. Photographer Peter Parker's (Rino Romano) Spider-Sense suddenly goes off and he changes into the superhero Spider-Man. He sees the symbiotes Venom (Brian Drummond) and Carnage (Michael Donovan) climb aboard the shuttle. Spider-Man boards and tries to stop them. They talk about something called the Synoptic before overpowering him forcing him off. Footage aboard the shuttle shows the symbiotes entering and attacking John before the transmission cuts out. The shuttle goes through the warp ring and Earth can no longer see it.

Jameson blames Spider-Man for his son's disappearance. The people of New York City turn against the hero, doing things like burning an effigy of him and using pepper spray when he helps them. Jameson offers a substantial reward for his capture. When a building becomes engulfed in flames, Spider-Man races to help. Despite saving a woman, the firefighters abandon saving the building to turn the hoses on the hero. The building starts to collapse and Spider-Man pushes an attacking firefighter to safety, apparently being crushed by debris. The building is destroyed and firefighters discover Spider-Man's ruined mask in the rubble believing him to be dead. Peter finds comfort in Mary Jane Watson (Jennifer Hale) and they watch the news coverage of Spider-Man's controversial career. She tells him that maybe he should let Spider-Man stay dead and focus on being Peter. As he considers her words, news breaks that John has sent a message from Counter-Earth. The broken transmission says he is fighting creatures on the planet and warns that they could attack Earth. Peter vows to save John at any cost.

Six months later, Peter sneaks into the facility that is launching the Solaris Two rescue mission. He uses nanotechnology "borrowed" from Reed Richards to form a new technologically advanced Spider-Man outfit. While sneaking aboard the shuttle, he is confronted by Nick Fury (Mark Gibbon). Spider-Man explains he has to clear his name and Fury lets him go. Spider-Man then sends a transmission explaining he is leaving to save John, and says Peter Parker is going with him. The shuttle launches and goes through the warp ring. He sees Counter-Earth, which sends out a tractor-beam that pulls him in. The shuttle comes in too fast and Machine Men (Dale Wilson) arrive to help slow him down. The shuttle crashes in a New York-like city and goes up in flames. Spider-Man barely escapes but leaves behind his picture of MJ that burns up.

The machines try to arrest him and he flees. He is suddenly confronted by four animal-like humanoids called the Knights of Wundagore: the noble leader Lord Tyger (David Sobolov), brutish Lady Ursula (Tasha Simms), sexually aggressive Lady Vermin (Hale), and sadistic scientist Sir Ram (Ron Halder). They wonder, since he calls himself Spider-Man, if he is human or bestial. When Spider-Man escapes them, he finds that the world is filled with the animal-like bestials. He goes to the depths of the city where he finds the human population living in slums. He flees into an abandoned building and uses his stealth technology to elude the Knights. The power for this mode runs out and he is captured by the Knights. He is taken to a lab where the Knight's leader, High Evolutionary (Newman), orders them to get a DNA sample leading to a cliffhanger ending.
