Ghost Rider Penances Glenn

Ghost Rider is a character voiced by Richard Grieco in all his speaking appearances. He made a one-shot cameo in the X-Men episode "The Final Decision", a small but notable cameo in the Fantastic Four episode "When Calls Galactus", and a full appearance in the The Incredible Hulk episode "Innocent Blood". Though unspecified, he is based on the second Ghost Rider named Daniel Ketch.

The man known as Ghost Rider possesses a spiritual-based power he calls the Ghost Flame. He rides a motorcycle that he infuses with the flames and wields a chain whip to attack his foes. He activates his powers with a sigil embedded in his cycle. At some point he encountered the mutant Gambit in the sewers. The X-Men found out about it when they searched his memories after Robert Kelly was kidnapped by Sentinels.

After a Hulk attack outside Chicago, Ghost Rider went to the city to avenge the innocents lost believing Hulk to have killed them. While riding around the city, his powers accidentally caused a soup kitchen Bruce Banner was in to explode. Ghost Rider saw Hulk holding a nun and knocked the brute through a wall. He evaded a police quarantine to pursue Hulk but was stopped by Rick Jones, who claimed that Hulk was innocent. Since the boy was not hurt by his flames, Ghost Rider decided to help Rick. They found Hulkbusters member Glenn Talbot attacking Hulk with a tranquilizer gun designed to kill Hulk. Ghost Rider used his Penance Stare on Talbot and learned the truth about Hulk. However, to save Hulk they needed to make him madder than ever before. Ghost Rider and Doc Samson fought Hulk while Rick and Betty Ross claimed to hate him. Hulk was cured but felt his friends hated him. Ghost Rider told them that Hulk's heart would heal.

After being tricked by his herald Terrax, the planet eater Galactus was weak and needed to consume Earth to survive. Both the Fantastic Four and Thor failed to stop him so Ghost Rider appeared. He used his Penance Stare making Galactus feel the pain of the billions upon billions of lives he had destroyed. He sped away leaving the cosmic being's life in the hands of the other heroes. Frankie Raye then convinced Thor and the Fantastic Four to help Galactus then agreed to become his new herald as Nova. Galactus agreed once more to spare Earth.

There was more planned for Ghost Rider that never came to be. "Innocent Blood" was intended as a backdoor pilot for a series that never materialized. A proposed story for Spider-Man featured the Spirit of Vengeance, nixed by Fox Kids due to the character appearing on the rival UPN network. The idea was that Mysterio would find the Time Dilation Accelerator and stumble across Dormammu. Ghost Rider would have teamed up with Spider-Man to stop them.
