Deadpool WXM Concept

Deadpool is one of the villains of Hulk vs Wolverine. He was voiced by Nolan North. This is the first animated version to be the actual character, besides several appearances on X-Men as illusions or transformations. Writer Christopher Yost described North as the perfect person for Deadpool as he ad-libbed many lines that ended up in the feature.

Deadpool is a member of Team X, part of the Weapon X program along with Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Lady Deathstrike. He claimed to be good friends with former teammate Wolverine, though he always wanted to kill his clones. After Wolverine escaped, Team X was tasked with bringing in Hulk to be brainwashed.

Team X tracked the brute to Elkford, Canada but he escaped while the town was destroyed. Wolverine was brought in by Department H to stop Hulk. Team X allowed the two to fight. When they got tired, Deadpool shot both of them with tranquilizer darts. They brought them in for reprogramming.

Deadpool was glad to see his "friend" again, much to the annoyance of his teammates. When they were alone, Deadpool tried out Logan's unbreakable skull but hurt himself in the process. Later, Deadpool and Omega Red found the Professor nearly dead with Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike claiming that Wolverine did it. They then tracked down Wolverine, who had freed Bruce Banner, and attacked.

Wolverine sliced apart his favorite gun before slicing off his favorite arm. Then, Bruce transformed into Hulk. The green giant smashed his way through Team X to get to Wolverine. Deadpool tried putting a grenade in Hulk's mouth, but that just made him angrier. Wolverine then sacrificed Deadpool to give him some time to get away. After the destruction of the facility, Deadpool was apparently the last one left. He was glad to be alive until Hulk stomped on him on his way to somewhere else.

The character was planned to appear in the proposed second season of Wolverine and the X-Men, presumably voiced by North who was a regular as Cyclops, before the series was cancelled. Concept art was created for him alongside his longtime comic book partner Cable.
