Mallisa Refuses Dracula DSD

Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned is the first animated feature based on a Marvel Comics property. It was originally released in Japan on August 19th, 1980. The video was part of a deal between Marvel and Toei Animation. The deal was only partially successful as this and The Monster of Frankenstein were the only two products made.

In Boston, the Fellowship of the Black Mass are offering their member Dolores to Satan as his bride. Count Dracula impersonates the dark lord and takes the woman away. Touched by her beauty, he refrains from feasting on her blood and instead takes two random women. His nocturnal activities attract media attention and that of his descendant Frank Drake. Frank is contacted by vampire hunters Hans Harker and Rachel Van Helsing. He reluctantly agrees to help hunt his grandfather.

Meanwhile, Satan uses the Black Mass to get his revenge on Dracula for stealing his intended wife. Over the next year, the hunters track the vampire lord without success. Dracula and Dolores manage to have a child together, Janus. He explains his origins to her, from him being a Transylvanian ruler who was killed in battle to resurrected ruler of the dead.

The Black Mass lure Dracula and his family to their church and the hunters follow. Dracula is trapped by crosses and Janus is killed during the fight with the priest and hunters. Some time later, Dolores attempts suicide at her son's grave after Dracula leaves her. God resurrects Janus into an adult, but has him track down his villainous father.

Later, Dolores is captured by Satan who lures his adversary to Hell where it's revealed that Dolores has powers to stop him. Dolores saves her husband, who is somehow turned human again. Dracula leaves Dolores again and heads to New York City so that the vampire Layla can turn him once more. When she refuses, Dracula returns to his castle in Transylvania. Other vampires attack him, feeling he betrayed their kind, and he is forced to kill them.

Upon returning to his castle, he is once again turned into one of the undead. However, the hunters have laid a trap. Hans confronts Dracula and destroys the sovereign of the damned as well as his castle. Janus returns to his mother, informs her of his father's fate, and returns to being an infant.
