Overflow is the fourth episode of wxm. It originally aired in Canada on September 27, 2008 and February 6, 2009 in the United states. It is the first to follow the three-part series premiere and the first to feature Charles Xavier giving the X-Men an assignment from the future to stop the Days of Future Past.
hv is the sixth animated feature from Marvel Animation and Lions Gate Home Entertainment, released on January 27, 2009. It contains two separate features, hvw and hvt. It is part of an animated universe that includes wxm, aemh, and tta.

In the deserts of Africa, two men meet. One on the verge of dying transfers a black aura to the other that takes him over leaving the first to die. Meanwhile, Xavier contacts Wolverine from the future. He warns that the continent of Africa will soon be destroyed by Storm in an event that will kill her as well. However, they are interrupted by the spying Emma Frost. Logan throws her out of the Xavier Mansion claiming they don't need the former villain, but when Beast cannot find Ororo Logan realizes they need her to operate Cerebro.
The project came about when Frank Paur suggested having Hulk fight Wolverine. It was eventually expanded to include a fight between Hulk and Thor. While naht was designed to appeal to younger audiences, Hulk Vs was to appeal to hardcore fans. One of the appeals of releasing directly to DVD is that it allowed the producers to be more violent than they could be in other forms of media, and each video ended up with a PG-13 rating.

Emma scans the continent eventually finding the former X-Men. Ororo has used her powers to help a small tribe with stuff like creating rain to fill reservoirs. Shadowcat tries to get Cyclops to join them, but both Logan and Iceman write him off. He eventually comes along just before take off. Meanwhile, the dark aura has been transferring itself from one person to another, eventually making its way to Ororo's tribe and to her. The darkness calls says it was like Ororo's father. It recalls Ororo's memories of her time as a street urchin when Xavier found and battled Shadow King for her. Ororo realizes who the darkness is, the Shadow King.
In hvw, Department H sends Wolverine after the newly emerged Hulk when a town is destroyed. He travels across the Canadian Rockies and begins a brutal showdown. However, the two are captured by Team X and taken to the Weapon X facility. Logan recounts how he was brainwashed and bonded with adamantium before learning that Weapon X is trying to control Hulk. Wolverine escapes and finds Bruce Banner. He forces the doctor to transform so that Hulk beats Team X and destroys the facility. Wolverine and Hulk then resume their battle.

The evil psychic forces Ororo to see her village on fire. She creates a storm to put it out, but when that fails she makes a more powerful weather system that causes the Blackbird to crash. The X-Men head towards Ororo, but she went from rain to hail taking out half the team. Wolverine tries to reason with her but is unable to get through. Emma uses her powers to enter Ororo's mind and sees the fires. Emma and Shadow King fight with their minds, but the villain is too powerful. She eventually pulls Shadow King out of Ororo's body but he is still too strong. Emma manages to hold him off long enough so that he becomes weak due to being without a body. Eventually, Shadow King disappears into nothingness.
In hvt, Odin has entered the Odinsleep and Thor leads the defense of Asgard. Loki and Amora bring Bruce to their realm and separate Bruce and Hulk. Loki takes control of the brute and uses it to storm his way towards Odin. However, he loses control and the mindless giant begins battling every entity in Asgard to destroy Odin. Thor teams up with Sif, Balder, the Warriors Three, Amora, and Loki to stop Hulk. Thor and Loki then travel to Hel to get Hela to give up Bruce's soul, after Loki killed the mortal. After wanting to remain free, Bruce agrees to rebond with Hulk to save Asgard and is then sent to Midgard. Odin wakes and thanks Bruce for saving the Gods.

The people of the tribe thank the X-Men for saving them. Wolverine then acknowledges that Emma has earned a place on the team. Back at the mansion, Ororo visits the comatose body of the present Xavier and accepts a position on the team once again.
Reviews for the movies were positive. The two, particularly hvw, have been cited as some of the best direct-to-video animated features from either Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Wolverine has fared slightly better than Thor. Critics felt that Thor had a better story with more character development, though it required more knowledge of the Thor comics and was not quite as fun as Wolverine. Critics applauded Wolverine for delivering action that has been unseen on television or live-action superheroes, but claimed the Weapon X story took away from the title fight. Deadpool, in his first actual animated appearance, and his voice actor Nolan North has been praised as the breakout character.
