Mandarin was an ancient warlord. It has become a title used by his descendants and most recently Gene Khan and Shin Zhang.

The Mandarin was an ancient warlord. His descendants carried on the name as they searched for the five known rings. He uses his power to rule the Tong gang. Shin was the current Mandarin but it was taken by Gene. Gene befriended Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, and James Rhodes at the Tomorrow Academy. As Mandarin fought the superhero Iron Man for the five rings. They found the five rings but Gene was revealed as the Mandarin. Also, Shin escaped and reclaimed the title. However, they discovered that there were five additional rings.
Powers and Abilities[]
The power of the Mandarin derives from the five Makluan rings that he wears. The powers of the rings, as they are known, include:
- Purple Ring: Teleportation, Creates vacuums, explosions, and force fields.
- Green Ring: Generates and projects force beams.
- Blue Ring: Create and manipulate water-like substances.
- Red Ring: Generates fire.
- Yellow Ring: Manipulate objects or opponents.
The powers of the five yet undiscovered rings are unknown at this time.

Mandarin, Gene Khan, and Shin Zhang were voiced by Vincent Tong.
In the comics, Mandarin is a modern day wealthy man and descendent of Genghis Khan. He found an alien ship and used ten rings to try to dominate the world. He actually sees technology as the surest means to achieve his goals.
