MODOK, formerly known as George Tarleton, is a member of The Hand and right-hand to Mandarin.
Biography[]
George Tarleton was a widely respected genius. He was one of earth’s greatest scientists on psionics. However, Tarleton often found himself doing Soviet Union dirty work. He was turned into an ugly floating head after volunteering to become a guinea pig for Red Ghost. After they both fell for the same woman, Red Ghost increased the test dosages and MODOK's body began to shrink whilst his head grew. Depending on a life support system to keep him alive, MODOK began working for Mandarin and The Hand, as he believed Mandarin knew how to cure him.
Later believing Mandarin was dead, MODOK began searching for his rings in order to gain his power. After they later collided over the possession of his rings, MODOK again began working for Mandarin. Mandarin betrayed him by creating an anti-technology field that rendered his life support systems utterly useless. He sided with Iron Man, and Iron Man left him free to go as a reward for betraying his boss.
