Kingpin is a crime lord in New York City.
Biography[]
Kingpin was behind a fake medication racket in New York City. Kingpin's men would make artificial medication and then force pharmacies to buy the medicine from him. The people that took the fake medication would actually get sicker. J. Jonah Jameson learned of Kingpin's fake medicine racket and was planning to expose this operation in an edition of The Daily Bugle. When Jameson refused to kill the fake medicine story, Kingpin had him kidnapped. However, Spider-Man was able to track down Kingpin to his hideout. Kingpin and Spider-Man fought. However, Kingpin was able to knock Spider-Man out with gas and he got away. When Spider-Man awoke he chased after Kingpin. However, Kingpin informed Spider-Man that he had a bomb placed in The Daily Bugle and that he would only have enough time to either stop him or disarm the bomb. Spider-Man chose to let Kingpin go and disarmed the bomb. Despite Kingpin not being captured Spider-Man was able to put an end to his fake medicine racket.
Kingpin later returned and hired a scientist named Winkler who created a camera that's flash would give a person a hypnotic suggestion to go into the back room in sit in a chair. This chair was a larger much more powerful brainwashing machine that Kingpin planned to use to brainwash various city officials. The brain washing machine was set up in the back room of a night club. Kingpin gave Mary Jane the camera and she took pictures of the officials. However, was unaware of Kingpin's true intentions. When Spider-Man discovered what Kingpin was doing, Kingpin kidnapped Captain Stacy and Mary Jane. However, Spider-Man was able to defeat Kingpin and rescue Mary Jane and Captain Stacy.
