Biography[]
Controlling Captain America[]
At some point Kingpin discovered that the U.S. Military had created a new type of laser weapon called the Omni-Blaster. The Omni-Blaster had a variety of weapons built into it such as a magnetic beam, an explosive ray and a heat ray. The Omni-Blaster was kept in a high security vault inside a U.S. Army base. Kingpin intended to use a Psycho-Disc invented by Dr. Faustus to place Captain America under his mental control and get him to steal the Omni-Blaster.
Kingpin had Faustus place the Psycho-Disc on Cap's neck and Faustus told Captain America what to do. While under Kingpin's control Captain America tricked Iceman into helping him steal the Omni-Blaster from the U.S. Military. However, after Cap and Iceman got the Omni-Blaster, Faustus betrayed Kingpin and placed a Psycho-Disc on him. However, a short while later Kingpin revealed that he found a way to block the effects of the Psycho-Disc so he was never really under Faustus' control. Kingpin then attempted to kill Faustus with the Omni-Blaster. However, Spider-Man and Firestar arrived at Kingpin's mansion and they helped Iceman and Captain America defeat Kingpin.
Expanding His Criminal Empire[]
Kingpin had a scientist that worked for him create a highly corrosive acid. The chemical waste was then dumped into the river. The chemical waste made its way to the ocean where it harmed Namorita, the cousin of Namor.
Kingpin then called a meeting with Silvermane, Hammerhead and Caesar Cicero and told them that they should all merge into one criminal empire with him in total control. To help persuade the crime lord, Kingpin showed them the new acid he had that could melt through any safe. Kingpin told the crime lords that the acid could be theirs but only if they agreed to his terms. However, Spider-Man and Namor were able to defeat Kingpin.
Unwilling Accomplice[]
When Spider-Man needed money he got a job working for a talent agent named Hal Hunter. Hal had Spider-Man do several odd jobs for him. However, these odd jobs really were Spider-Man unwillingly committing crimes. Secretly Hal Hunter was really working for the Kingpin who intended to frame Spider-Man for a variety of crimes. However, Spider-Man eventually discovered that Kingpin was behind everything, captured him and cleared his name.
