Before acting, Ireland was a model known for appearing in thirteen consecutive Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues. She founded a marketing company named kathy ireland Worldwide and has gone on to become one of the world's wealthiest former models. She uses her wealth for charity and philanthropy.
