Joseph Hill Whedon (born June 23, 1964), credited as Joss Whedon, is a writer, producer, and director who wrote Astonishing X-Men and was given special thanks on Avengers Assemble.

Biography[]

He wrote and directed the Marvel Cinematic Universe films The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He created, wrote for, and produced the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. while producing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot. He worked as a consultant on Captain America: The First Avenger. He directed some scenes for Thor and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He served as a script doctor on Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy. He was given special thanks for Iron Man 3, All Hail the King, and WandaVision.

He is most famous as the creator of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchise. He wrote the film, but was unhappy with the final product. He then created the series of the same name, along with the spin-off Angel, that was closer to his original vision. He is also known for creating the series Firefly and it's subsequent film Serenity as well as Dollhouse and The Nevers.

As a writer, his works include Roseanne, Parenthood, Pixar Animation Studios's Toy Story, Alien: Resurrection, Titan A.E., Walt Disney Animation Studios's Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dollplay, The Cabin in the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing, Justice League, and The Nevers.

As a producer, his works include Parenthood, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Animated Series, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Cabin in the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing, In Your Eyes, The Deal, The Letter Carrier, and The Nevers.

As a director, his works include Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Serenity, The Office, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dollhouse, Glee, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Nevers.

He was story editor on Roseanne.

He worked as a script doctor on The Getaway, Speed, The Quick and the Dead, Waterworld, Twister, and X-Men.

As an actor, he has appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, Veronica Mars, Robot Chicken, The Coach, Husbands, Con Man, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, Another Period, and A Place Among the Dead.

When the original director left due to a personal tragedy, Whedon was brought in to finish DC Comics' Justice League. He worked on post-production as well as directing additional scenes. However, original director Zack Snyder retained on-screen credit. However, the film bombed at the box office and failed with critics.

In recent years, he has been accused of harassment by several actors on Justice League, which was followed by accusations from Buffy actors. Warner Brothers Studios investigated the claims and said they took "remedial action." Whedon has repeatedly denied all claims.
