Jonathan Scott Frakes (born August 19, 1952) is an actor who currently plays J'Son and the narrator on Guardians of the Galaxy while previously playing High Evolutionary on The Super Hero Squad Show.

He is married to The Incredible Hulk actress Genie Francis.


He is most well known for the role of William T. Riker in the Star Trek franchise. He directed several Star Trek episodes of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Discovery as well as the two films First Contact and Insurrection. He is also known as villain/anti-hero David Xanatos in the Gargoyles franchise.

Other notable works include Fantasy Island, The Waltons, The Dukes of Hazzard, Hill Street Blues, Bare Essence, Paper Dolls, Falcon Crest, The Twilight Zone, North and South, Matlock, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Futurama, Family Guy, NCIS: Los Angeles, Castle, Adventure Time, Devil's Gate, and XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.

As a director he has worked on University Hospital, Roswell, The Twilight Zone, Thunderbirds, Dollhouse, V, Leverage, Castle, Burn Notice, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Falling Skies, Powers, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Orville, and The Librarians.
