Jim Lee (born 이용철, English translation Lee Yong-chul, on August 11, 1964) is a comic book artist and writer who's designs were used for the characters on X-Men. He is the creator of Team X, credited on "Weapon X, Lies and Videotape". His artwork was featured in the closing credits of Hulk vs Wolverine, though he was uncredited.
Biography[]
He and Chris Claremont created the famous X-Men #1, which holds the world record for the best selling comic book of all time. It was the designs introduced in this issue that inspired the look of the series.
In 1992, Lee and several other creators at Marvel left to form Image Comics. As such, Marvel initially did not want the series to use Lee's designs. Will Meugniot used some creative designs based on Hanna-Barbera Productions to trick them and allow the producers to use the designs they wanted.
He is currently the Co-Publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics.
Notable works include Alpha Flight, The Avengers, Captain America, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Punisher War Journal, Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Preacher, Batman, Superman, Superman/Batman, Justice League, Harley Quinn, Suicide Squad, Action Comics, Detective Comics, Weird War Tales, Gen13, Savage Dragon, StormWatch, WildC.A.T.s, and Robotech.
