Biography[]
James Barnes was born in 1925. During World War II James Barnes was Steve Rogers' sidekick and went by the name Bucky. During the war Bucky and Captain America went on missions with Wolverine. The soldiers in Bucky's unit nicknamed him Scooter which he hated. Toward the end of the war Bucky was frozen which placed him in suspended animation.
In the present Bucky was thawed out and briefly took on the identity of Captain America. Decades later Bucky, now middle-aged, began working as an aide at a nursing home run by M.O.D.O.K.. Bucky gave Wolverine a tour of the nursing home when he was admitted there. ("Grumpy Old Man Logan")
Background[]
Bucky is voiced by Nick Lowe.
Unlike his main universe counterpart this version of Bucky still has both arms and apparently never became Winter Soldier.
In the Comics[]
Bucky was one of several heroes that were killed during a massive supervillain attack on the United States. Bucky, while wearing a Captain America costume, had his eyes crushed by Red Skull while he was crying over the fate of his country.
Presumed dead, Bucky was turned back into the Winter Soldier to be used by the Red Skull as a weapon whenever he deemed necessary. When Bullseye betrayed the Skull in order to pursue and kill Hawkeye, the Winter Soldier was sent to deal with him. He was ambushed and subsequently killed by his target at the Rock Spring Power Plant.
