J. Jonah Jameson is editor in chief of The Daily Bugle, well known for his anti-Spider-Man stance.

Biography

When J. Jonah Jameson learned that the Kingpin was making fake medicine and forcing pharmacies to buy it from him, Jameson was planning to expose Kingpin's fake medicine racket in an editorial in the Daily Bugle. Kingpin had Jameson kidnapped and tried to convince him to kill the fake medicine story. However, Spider-Man was able to rescue Jameson and stop Kingpin. This was Jameson's first meeting with Spider-Man. Up until this point Jameson believed that Spider-Man was just a rumor.

Jameson hired Mysterio to kill Spider-Man but Mysterio was revealed to be a criminal that Spider-Man brought to justice.

Jameson tried to capture Spider-Man with the Spider-Slayer that was built by Henry Smythe but this plan failed.

Jameson paid Farley Stillwell to create a super-human being called the Scorpion to kill Spider-Man. However, Scorpion tried to kill Jameson and ended up having to be saved by Spider-Man.

Green Goblin once placed Jameson under a trance to get information on how to summon evil spirits.

When Peter Parker was sick, Jameson tried to sneak onto a military base to get pictures of a top secret weapon. However, Jameson was captured by the Military Police and arrested.

Jameson was later placed under a trance by Harley Clivendon who hypnotized Jameson into giving him all his money. Jameson blamed Betty Brant for the disappearance of his money and Betty quit. However, Jameson later apologized to Betty when Spider-Man caught Clivendon.

Jameson ridiculed Dr. Noah Boddy's theory on invisibility and as revenge Noah Boddy turned himself invisible and framed Jameson for crimes that he committed. However, Spider-Man caught Noah Boddy and cleared Jameson's name.

When Jameson discovered that a clock tower near the Daily Bugle was chiming at the wrong time, he became furious and went the clock tower to try and fix it. However, Jameson was captured by the Vulture Man who was using the clock tower as his hideout. Jameson had information a new rocket that was developed by the military because The Daily Bugle was supposed to cover its unveiling. Vulture forced Jameson to give him the location of the rocket and later stole it. Vulture also forced Jameson to tell him about a shipment of diamonds and a laser weapon which he also stole. However, Spider-Man later stopped Vulture and rescued Jameson.

Scorpion later escaped prison and abducted Jameson. However, Spider-Man was able to rescue Jameson and stop Scorpion.

He once witnessed Spider-Man meeting another Spider-Man from a far-distant future.

Jameson was voiced by Paul Kligman on Spider-Man and Adam Brown, the editorial associate production manager, in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
