An inner demon is something that a person struggles with personally.
Despite the name, it is not an actual demon, which is a malevolent supernatural being.
History
Professor X was able to see visual representations of a person's inner demons using his telepathy. He did so with Sabretooth and saw his inner demons attacking the two of them in a cage. One inner demon became Wolverine.
