The Inner Circle Club is a secret society comprised of mutants.

History[]

The group was formed as a way to control the Phoenix Force. Emma Frost went to the X-Men to become a member to secretly find Jean Grey, who had become possessed by Phoenix accidentally destroying the Xavier Mansion. When Jean was found Emma telepathically put the X-Men to sleep so she could kidnap her. The group extracted the Phoenix from Jean putting it in the Stepford Cuckoos. Emma tried to warn them against the plan but they went ahead anyways. The Cuckoos began destroying the world until Emma took Phoenix into herself apparently dying in the process.

Alternate Version[]

In a possible dystopian future, the Inner Circle Club succeeded in taking Phoenix from Jean but no one stopped the Cuckoos. They eventually devastated the entire world allowing Sentinels to take over the world. When Charles Xavier woke he used Cerebro to contact the X-Men of the past, including Emma, to warn them about this future. This version was wiped out when Emma sacrificed herself.

Background[]

The group is closer to that from the Ultimate universe as they are focused on controlling Phoenix. In the original 616 universe, the group was trying to take over the world with Phoenix simply being one possible method.
