- Horsemen of Apocalypse are from the Non MAU series X-Men: Evolution.
The Horsemen of Apocalypse were a group of mutants controlled by Apocalypse.
Members[]
- Charles Xavier: Horseman of Death. Former leader of the X-Men. Though paralyzed, he was able to walk again. His psychic abilities were enhanced and he was given the ability to create psychic weapons.
- Magneto: Horseman of War. Former leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants and Acolytes. His magnetic powers were enhanced and he could survive in the vacuum of space.
- Mystique: Horseman of Pestilence. Former leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants and Magneto's second in command. Her shapeshifting powers were enhanced to the point where she could become more than one creature at once, turn body parts into weapons, become liquid, and could heal wounds and regrow limbs.
- Storm: Horseman of Famine. Former member of the X-Men. Her control over the weather was enhanced.
All members were kidnapped through various ways and mind controlled through means unknown. The team was disbanded after the defeat of Apocalypse and release of the members.
History[]
![]() |
After Mesmero released the ancient mutant En Sabah Nur, he kidnapped Charles Xavier and Storm while Mystique and Magneto both appeared to die. He had actually taken them and manipulated their bodies and minds into his Four Horsemen, named after the Christian figures of which he also took his new name Apocalypse. He greatly enhanced their bodies to extraordinary levels, beyond that of normal mutants.
The four protected various pyramids across the globe for their master. They fought against the Xavier's X-Men, Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants and Acolytes, and the human group S.H.I.E.L.D. with their Sentinels.
Through a combined effort, the Horsemen and Apocalypse were defeated. The Horsemen were released from the control though they lost the additional powers.
Background[]
It was stated that had the series returned for a fifth season Apocalypse would have returned. It is unknown if the Horsemen would also have returned and if they did if it would feature the same members of different ones.
The Horsemen seen in X-Men: Apocalypse follow this version closer than any other. The film also had Magneto and Storm join, though of their own free will, with Psylocke being the psychic rather than Xavier. The team did use Angel, who was an original Horseman in the comics, rather than Mystique.
In the Comics[]
Angel was one of the first horsemen as Death, and changed his name to Archangel. Wolverine and Gambit have both been Death. Caliban has been both Death and Pestilence.
