Hiawatha Smith is a professor at Eastern State University.
Biography[]
During World War II, Hiawatha's father fought with the Allied Forces against the Nazis. After the war Hiawatha's father entrusted him with a scorpio engraving that was a clue to finding Hitler's buried treasure.

In the present, Hiawatha Smith was kidnapped by the Red Skull because he wanted to know how to find Hitler's buried treasure. This treasure included new weapons. Red Skull intended to use these new weapons to start World War III and take over the world. However, Hiawatha was able to escape the Red Skull.
Hiawatha then returned to his house and met the Spider-Friends. The Spider-Friends were there because earlier Spider-Man had caught some of Red Skull's men breaking into Hiawatha's home. Hiawatha told the Spider-Friends of Hitler's treasure and they agreed to help him stop the Red Skull.
Spider-Man soon discovered that the treasure was located somewhere in the Marabunta Jungle and the four of them went there. By using the clues that he stole from Hiawatha, Red Skull also learned that the treasure was located in the Marabunta Jungle. However, upon arriving at the temple Hiawatha and the Spider-Friends learned that Red Skull had already beat them to the treasure.
Hiawatha and the Spider-Friends were able to track Red Skull to Skull Island. However, Spider-Man, Iceman and Firestar were captured and Red Skull had them strapped to missiles. Red Skull informed the Spider-Friends that he intended to launch the missiles at three of the most powerful countries. Each country would think the other fired the missile and this would start World War III. However, Hiawatha broke into Red Skull's hideout and freed the Spider-Friends and together they stopped the missiles. However, Red Skull escaped capture.

Hiawata Smith knows ancient Native American techniques that allows him to communicate with animals and in doing so can make them follow his commands.

Hiawatha Smith was voiced by Michael Ansara.
He was an original character created for Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
In an interview Dennis Marks said that he based Hiawatha Smith on Indiana Jones.[1]
Hiawatha Smith was featured in the Marvel Mash-Up shorts that aired on Disney XD.
