GrantRay-Lawrence Animation was an animation studio that produced The Marvel Super Heroes and the first season of Spider-Man.
History[]
The animation company was founded in 1954. Its name was a combination of Grant Simmons, Raymond "Ray" Patterson, and Robert L. Lawrence, the names of its three founders, and its focus was on animated cartoons for television. Steve Krantz's Krantz Films, one of whose primary producers and directors, Ralph Bakshi, later converted R. Crumb's Fritz The Cat to feature film form, was GrantRay-Lawrence's distributor.
When GrantRay-Lawrence went bankrupt in 1967, its distributor, Krantz Films took over the production of its active projects.
Aside from Spider-Man, GrantRay-Lawrence Animation also produced a failed pilot called Planet Patrol as well as the series Max, the 2000-Year Old Mouse and Rocket Robin Hood.
