G4, also known as G4 TV, is a discontinued television station that aired Marvel Anime: Iron Man, Marvel Anime: Wolverine, Marvel Anime: X-Men, and Marvel Anime: Blade. At the time it ceased operations it was owned by NBC.

History[]

The channel was launched on April 24, 2002. It was targeted towards young male adults with an emphasis on technology and video games. The channel was intended to be the next MTV.

In 2004, the company merged with techTV and became G4techTV before going back to simply G4 a year later.

In 2005, the channel began widening their focus from mostly video games to a broader male-oriented focus.

In 2012, it was announced that all original programming would cease and the channel would only air acquired and syndicated programming.

On September 23, 2013, it was announced that the channel would be rebranded as Esquire Network. However, NBC decided to instead rebrand their other station, Style, as Esquire. Following that decision, several television providers began dropping G4 and it ceased broadcasts on December 31, 2014.
