The early life of Dust is unknown.
She was captured by the Mutant Response Divison. She was freed by the X-Men members Wolverine and Beast. She joined several other freed mutants in a helicopter. She used her powers to take out a couple of jets following them.
She made her way to the mutant haven of Genosha. However, she learned that Magneto was keeping those who disagreed with him in cells underground. She told another X-Man Nightcrawler about them but was then captured.
She was not seen afterwards, but it is likely she was freed after Magneto was overthrown.
