Boyd Kirkland (born November 4, 1950; died January 27, 2011) was a layout artist on Spider-Man, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and The Incredible Hulk; storyboard artist on Solarman and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes; producer on X-Men: Evolution; director on X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men, and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes; and writer on X-Men: Evolution, Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Avengers II, and Wolverine and the X-Men.

Biography[]

Other notable works include RoboCop: The Animated Series, Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, My Little Pony: The Movie, G. I. Joe, Jem, Conan: The Adventurer, Generator Rex, and Mister T.

He died while waiting for a lung transplant at UCLA Medical Center. Kirkland was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2007 and passed away on January 27th, 2011. In his memory, the Kirkland family named the Coalition of Pulmonary Fibrosis as a charity that fans could make donations towards. The The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes episodes "Michael Korvac", "Nightmare in Red", "Secret Invasion", "Yellowjacket", and "Emperor Stark", which were all his directoral efforts that were released following his death, are dedicated to his memory.
