Eyes of Wakanda is an upcoming animated series from Marvel Studios that is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Story[]
Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.
Background[]
On February 1, 2021, Deadline reported that Ryan Coogler was developing a television series set in Wakanda for Disney+.[1]
On May 27, 2021, Deadline reported that Danai Gurira would be reprising her role as Okoye in an origin spin-off series for Disney+. Although it is unknown if Gurira will play Okoye in Eyes of Wakanda or another Wakanda based project that is said to be in development.[2]
On November 1, 2022, in an interview with Collider, Nate Moore revealed that the series was "probably not as far along as people want it to be".[3]
On November 9, 2022, Variety reported that Ryan Coogler was developing multiple television series set in Wakanda for Disney+.[4] In an interview with Variety, Nate Moore revealed that some ideas for the series involved characters from the Black Panther films and other series would include characters that would be completely new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[5]
On December 11, 2023, it was announced that an animated television series centered on Wakanda titled Eyes of Wakanda was in development for Disney+.[6][7] That same day, it was reported that the series would premiere in 2024.[8]
On January 3, 2024, in an interview, Brad Winderbaum revealed that Todd Harris had created the series.[9]
On August 10, 2024, it was revealed that the series would consist of four episodes.[10]
The premier of the series was later pushed to August 6, 2025.[11]
In 2025, it was revealed the animation was provided by Mikros Animation in Montreal and Paris and DNEG Animation in London and Montreal.
