Aunt May is badly hurt by Hobgoblin and Harry Osborn is still missing. Can anyone stop the flying fiend when he starts his own plans for Norman Osborn and Kingpin?
Story[]
Spider-Man and the Hobgoblin's air-battle in the sky of New York City where Hobgoblin tests out all his new abilities and weapons such as the AI-controlled missiles "Smart Bombs" with his new remote-controlled glider eventually ends on a street where Spider-Man hides under a fire engine which is blown up by Hobgoblin's Smart Bombs. Although Spider-Man survives the explosion through the sewers.
Spider-Man later discusses with Norman Osborn about why he was talking to the Hobgoblin earlier, but he tells him that he needed to trust the Hobgoblin for a deal about betraying Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk because Fisk put him in risk of losing his life's work. Hobgoblin later returns to the Kingpin's secret lair in the Empire State Building and demands he gets paid, but instead Fisk fires him after revealing the security footage that Alistair Smythe had taken earlier of him discussing to Norman Osborn about betraying the Kingpin. Fisk orders his henchman guards to have Hobgoblin terminated, but Hobgoblin uses his explosives and new glider to battle the henchmen, and eventually results in Hobgoblin defeating the henchmen, almost destroying the lair and presumably killing the Kingpin and his sidekick Allistair Smythe off-screen. Hobgoblin decides to take the Empire State Building for his own and lead the Kingpin's crime organization, as well as continuing to take Harry hostage.
Hobgoblin later tells Norman Osborn about his success of killing Fisk through video call, but tells him that he has changed his mind about their deal and orders him to give him the entire ownership of OsCorp in exchange for his son Harry. Fisk then reveals himself to Osborn and explains that he and Smythe escaped via a secret tunnel underneath the Empire State Building, and that they could use it to stop the Hobgoblin's schemes and pay him out. Norman decides to hire Spider-Man for the mission who agrees, seeing it as an opportunity to avenge Aunt May Parker during her recovery of unconsciousness.
Norman Osborn shows Spider-Man the way into the tunnel, allowing Spider-Man to enter the Empire State Building and sneak into the Hobgoblin's secret lair. Spider-Man, after sneaking up on Hobgoblin, gets into a battle with him that causes Hobgoblin to accidentally blow up the lair. Hobgoblin eventually lets an unconscious imprisoned Harry go with Spider-Man before escaping on his glider. Spider-Man exits through the secret tunnel, before it is exploded by the Kingpin and Smythe.
After Spider-Man gives the unconscious freed Harry back to Norman, he questions Osborn about being responsible for everything the Hobgoblin did because he did not care about Harry. But Osborn tells him he really did care about Harry, but realises he just did not think about him enough. Hobgoblin then breaks in and attempts to kill the Osborns by crashing the ceiling down onto them, but Norman attempts to save Harry, proving how much he actually cares for him. Spider-Man then swings into a rooftop battle with the Hobgoblin, which eventually ends in Spider-Man jumping into a chimney to dodge the Hobgoblin, causing the Hobgoblin to crash into the chimney, fly out of control and crash into the nearby Hudson Lake, drowning and killing him.
Peter Parker then returns to the hospital where Aunt May is still unconscious, and Mary Jane Watson is staying to watch, hoping for her recovery. Mary Jane tells Peter that she has decided not to move out from her aunt because of what happened to Aunt May. Aunt May then awakens from her unconsciousness and tells Peter that he is probably not ready to move out yet, and that saving Fisk from the accident with the Hobgoblin was the right choice and that "Uncle Ben Parker would have been very proud". As the Hobgoblin's ghost floats up to the moon, he whispers in an echoing voice: "Don't forget me, Spider-Man. I won't forget you!"
