As Peter Parker is walking through a park on the hottest day of summer, he finds himself sliding on ice. He then notices that things around him are freezing and follows the frozen trail to the home of Dr. Smartyr. He does battle with a ten foot tall, white, square headed alien to save the Doctor.

Dr Smartyr speculates that the alien is from Pluto, the oldest known planet, and probably not alone. Suddenly several of the aliens burst into the Doctor's home, freeze Spider-man and kidnap the doctor.

Spider-Man guesses that they may have taken Dr Smarter to an iceberg that flows in New York Harbor within sight of the Statue of Liberty. He finds a tunnel and follows it into the hideout of the aliens. There is discovers that they are not villians, but had taken Dr Smartyr because he was the only person who could repair their spaceship, concealed in the iceberg, so that they could return to Pluto.

Once repaired, the aliens ship transforms to look like a giant diamond and blast off into space. Peter takes his pictures of the frozen landscape, aliens, and the spaceship to J. Jonah Jameson, only to have him toss them in the waste can in disbelief. While Betty Brant, upon hearing that the space craft had become a giant diamond, hints to Peter that diamonds are a girl's best friend.
