- When the X-Men catch up to Morph, he is starring in a play adaptation of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. When Morph uses his powers to shape shift into Mr. Hyde his appearance resembles the Marvel Comics version of Mr. Hyde.
- Sauron tells Professor X that "resistance is futile." This is a phrase most commonly associated with the Borg from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Coincidentally Jean-Luc Picard, who was played by Patrick Stewart, was turned into a Borg in the episode, "The Best of Both Worlds". Patrick Stewart would later go on to play Professor X in Fox's X-Men film series starting in 2000.

Comic Book Resources ranked this episode and its follow-up as number eight in their ranking of the top fifteen episodes of the series. They liked that the episode explored Professor X and Magneto's friendship. They also liked how the series wrapped up the season long story as well as showing how Mister Sinister as one of the team's best villains. They thought it was a great way to have multiple storylines that intersect in a coherent way. [1]
