Doctor Doom is a genius and one of the most infamous supervillains on Earth.
Biography[]
When Victor Von Doom was a child, Latveria was ruled by a cruel dictator known as the Baron. Victor and his father, Werner hid from the Latverian soldiers in the cold forest. They were found the next day by Boris Karela who took them to a gypsy camp. Victor survived, but Werner did not. Young Victor then swore that he would one day get revenge. As a young adult Victor attended Eastern State University. Victor used the resources at ESU to conduct strange experiments. A fellow student named Reed Richards tried to warn Victor that his calculations for one of his experiments were off. However, Victor did not listen to him. However, Reed was right and the experiment caused an explosion that scarred Victor's face. Victor then went to Tibet where he met a group of monks. The monks forged Victor a suit of armor. Victor, now calling himself Doctor Doom, returned to Latveria and overthrew its leader becoming the country's new monarch. Doctor Doom then planned to conquer the rest of the world.
Doctor Doom came into possession of a magical amulet that could give him the power to alter reality however he wanted. However, Spider-Man stumbled upon Doctor Doom while performing the ceremony and fought him. During their fight Doctor Doom dropped the amulet and it was found by an old man named Frump who was a friend of May Parker. The amulet gave Frump the power to alter reality instead of Doctor Doom. Later, Doctor Doom met Frump and tricked him into thinking that the Spider-Friends were his enemies. Frump used his power to teleport the Spider-Friends and had them fight various mythological creatures in an arena. However, Frump got rid of the creatures when they threatened May. Doctor Doom then proposed to the Spider-Friends that they get the pieces of the amulet back so he could reverse the spell. The Spider-Friends didn't want to work with Doom but they had no choice. Doom was able to reverse the spell and intended to take the power for himself. However, Firestar was able to destroy the amulet before it could give Doctor Doom its power. With the amulet destroyed everyone magically forgot about the events that had transpired.
Doctor Doom kidnapped the President of the United States and placed a device on his neck that placed the president under Doom's mental control. Spider-Man found Doctor Doom's lair and rescued the president. However, Spider-Man was unaware that the president was under Doom's control. Doctor Doom eventually placed every world leader under his control, except for the Secretary General of the United Nations. Doctor Doom's plan was to have all the world leader's declare him master of the world. Doctor Doom also knew that Spider-Man would try to stop him so he sent a Doombot to kill him. However, Spider-Man was able to destroy the Doombot. Doctor Doom later kidnapped the Secretary General from the United Nations. Peter Parker was at the UN at that time and followed the Doombots to Doctor Doom as Spider-Man. However, Doctor Doom lured Spider-Man into a trap and returned to the United Nations and placed the delegates under his mental control. Doctor Doom then had the UN delegates declare him ruler of Earth. Spider-Man was able to escape Doom's trap and returned to the United Nations where he fought and defeated Doctor Doom. Spider-Man was then able to return the UN delegates to their normal selves.
Once again Doctor Doom returned and planned to take control of the United Nations so he could rule the world. This time Doctor Doom had android duplicates of the UN delegates created. Doctor Doom would then have the delegates kidnapped and replaced with an android. Doctor Doom then gave a speech at the United Nations asking the world leaders to elect him ruler of the world. Spider-Man was present at the time and was surprised to hear all the delegates agree to elect Doom ruler of Earth. Doctor Doom saw Spider-Man and had the androids attack Spider-Man while he fled. Spider-Man eventually discovered Doom's plan and was able to destroy the androids and rescue the UN delegates.
Later, Doctor Doom formed an alliance with a criminal called Goron because of his mind control powers. When various world leaders visited Doctor Doom's castle, Doom had Goron use his mind control powers on them so they would follow his orders. Doctor Doom then had Goron go to America and show giant vegetables that he claimed to have grown with a special hormone. However, in reality the vegetables were made large by Goron's growth ray. Goron told the U.S. delegates that he could spread this growth hormone around the world if they gave him access to their space shuttles. When Goron went to Cape Canaveral he was able to gain control of all the US's missiles. Goron gave a message to the world saying that they had five minutes to surrender to Doctor Doom or else he would launch the missiles as heavily populated cities. However, Goron was defeated by Spider-Man.
Doctor Doom set off various explosions around the world which created a fault line under New York City. Doctor Doom then came to New York City as a guest of J. Jonah Jameson. The fault line ran under Jameson's mansion. Doctor Doom told Jameson that he planned to absorb the heat from the Earth's core and sell it. However, Doctor Doom really planned to fire a laser at the fault line to create an earthquake so powerful that New York City would sink into the ocean. Spider-Man attempted to stop Doctor Doom from starting the earthquake but failed. Doctor Doom contacted the President of the United States and told him that unless absolute control was given to him, he would sink New York City into the ocean. However, the president refused to give into Doom's demands. Spider-Man was able to destroy the laser and Doctor Doom fled.
When Johan Klemmle went to America he exposed Doctor Doom's tyranny to the world by telling his story to Peter Parker who had it published in the Daily Bugle. Spider-Man decided to go back to Latveria with Johann to help fight Doctor Doom. The United Nations General Assembly then met to discuss charging Doctor Doom with crimes against humanity. However, Doctor Doom contacted the United Nations and told the delegates that unless the charges were dropped he would use his weather machine to create storms powerful enough to destroy cities. Spider-Man and Johan returned to Latveria to face Doctor Doom. Spider-Man was able to destroy the weather machine. However, Doctor Doom escaped. Johan at first believed that they had defeated Doctor Doom. However, Doctor Doom soon reappeared and forced the people of Latveria to rebuild his castle.
Doctor Doom used a satellite to erupt all volcanos in the Ring of Fire which caused the Earth to move out of its orbit away from the sun. This caused the temperature to drop which plunged Earth into the next ice age. Doctor Doom blackmail the leaders of the world into making him ruler of Earth because Doom was the only one that had the technology to put the Earth back into its correct orbit. Spider-Man went to Latveria and confronted Doctor Doom. During their fight Spider-Man made it to Doctor Doom's computer and used it to control the satellite to make the volcanos fire again which moved the Earth back into its correct orbit. A laser from the satellite then fired at Castle Doom and struck Doctor Doom apparently killing him.

In Spider-Man, Ralph James voiced Doctor Doom. Mona Marshall voiced Victor Von Doom as a boy and Brian Fuld voiced a young Victor Von Doom while attending Empire State University in flashback scenes in "Canon of Doom". Shepard Menken voiced Doctor Doom in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
Doctor Doom was given a recurring role following the success of Star Wars because of Doom’s resemblance to Darth Vader.
This version of Doctor Doom made a cameo appearance in the episode "The Lizard" from Ultimate Spider-Man. He appeared in one of Spider-Man's fantasies.
Doctor Doom was featured in the Marvel Mash-Up shorts that aired on Disney XD.
