A dock is a man-made structure located a long a body of water. Ships arrive so that large cranes will take the containers off and move them onto the dock.
Loki hired the Wrecking Crew to attack a dock at New York Harbor to steal the Gamma Energy Emitter from Stark Industries. The New York Police Department and paramedic Jane Foster arrived but were outmatched. Thor arrived and defeated the four. Heimdall appeared and told Thor he needed to go to Asgard.
