Black Dwarf is a member of the Black Order.

Biography[]

When the Collector seized power from Thanos, he grew his criminal empire. Collector then hired Black Dwarf and the Black Order to work security at his museum.

When the Ravagers stole the Embers of Genesis from the Collector they were quickly discovered. As the Ravagers tried to escape they were confronted by the Black Order who tried to stop them. Black Dwarf led a group of armed guards to try and stop the Ravagers.

Black Dwarf confronted Thanos and used his Chain Hammer to deliver heavy blows. Thanos caught the Chain Hammer, smiled, and pushed back against it. For a moment, Thanos got the upper hand against Black Dwarf. However, Proxima Midnight came up behind Thanos and slashed his leg with her spear.

Black Dwarf repeatedly pounded Thanos into the ground with his Chain Hammer. Before Proxima Midnight could deliver the killing blow with her spear, Nebula ran up and started to shoot at them. Black Dwarf ran up to Nebula and grabbed her. However, Nebula said "eat this" and released some Embers of Genesis spores which went down Black Dwarf's throat. The spores activated and tore Black Dwarf apart as plants burst out of his body.

Background[]

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies Black Dwarf was renamed Cull Obsidian. While the name Black Dwarf is never said in "What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?", he is referred to as Black Dwarf in the episodes subtitles on Disney+. When Black Dwarf roars the subtitles read "Black Dwarf growls".

In Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Cull Obsidian was voiced by Terry Notary.
