En Sabah Nur, also known as Apocalypse, is an extremely powerful and ancient mutant. His ultimate goal is to rule the entire planet.

Biography[]

Apocalypse 2

Believed to be the very first mutant, Apocalypse has no known limitations to his power. Stating that he knows more of this world than we dared dream, his goal is to destroy the current world so a new world could be created in its place, in his image.

To do this, he created a device which would turn mutants into his slaves, or as he dubbed them, Horsemen. After turning Angel into a Horseman, Rogue absorbed the evil from him, creating a powerful enemy in Angel, hell-bent on destroying Apocalypse.

After several unsuccessful attempts to create his own world, centuries later, he realized that the battle of good vs. evil could never be won. With his newfound power, time travel, he attempted to go back into the past and eliminate all psychics, the only beings on earth who had the power to defeat him. After his plan to kill the psychics failed, they joined forces and banished him to the astral plane.

He demanded one of his acolytes, Fabian Cortez find him a new, mutant body in which he could use a vessel to return to Earth in. After Cortez failed to find one, Apocalypse used Cortez’s own body and returned to Earth to continue his mad dream.

Powers and Abilities[]

Apocalypse is a seemingly immortal being that has an arsenal of powers at his disposal. He has exceptional superior strength. He is durable enough to take direct attacks from mutants such as Cyclops and Magneto without receiving a scratch. He has several forms of telepathy and mental powers, such as being able to create energy projections and shields. He's also been shown to be resistant to other telepath's power, such as when Jean Grey tried to read his mind but was instantly blocked out.

His most notable powers in battle are his shapeshifting abilities. He can morph his arms into virtually anything he can think of such as swords, blasters, or shields. He's been shown to change his overall appearance to look like completely different people. He can even expand his entire body, allowing him to grow in size. He could increase his height by just a few feet or as big as a skyscraper depending on the situation.

Background[]

Apocalypse was voiced by John Colicos in all but his final appearance where he was voiced by James Blendick.

First version of the character outside the comics.

In the Comics[]

He is possibly the world's very first mutant. His name means "The First One".

Because he was born with unusually colored skin, he was abandoned by his parents and raised by raiders who taught him about "survival of the fittest."

A time traveling Kang, as Rama-Tut, sent an army to kill En Sabah Nur. He escaped, found alien technology, fully developed his powers, and became Apocalypse forcing Kang to flee.

He fought off an invasion of Brood.

He tried to kill Thor but was stopped by Odin.

He defeated Vlad the Impaler.

He transformed British scientist Nathaniel Essex into Mister Sinister to be his servant. In the series, Sinister created himself and has no connection to Apocalypse outside of briefly serving him during Beyond Good and Evil.

He believed High Evolutionary's plans were disruptive to his own and fought him.
