Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Released

Today is the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The film is the eighth in the long-running franchise, seventh in the live-action series, sequel to the 2018 hit Bumblebee, and second prequel to the original live-action film. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Released

Face front, True Believers! Today is finally the release of the highly anticipated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The film is a sequel to the extremely successful Oscar winner Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Set a year after the first, the film follows Brooklyn's only Spider-Man Miles Morales as he follows Gwen Stacy into the Spider-Verse where he is forced to confront hundreds of Spider-Men led by Miguel O'Hara who force him to decide between saving billions and saving the ones he loves.

The film was written by David Callaham. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller serve as producers while Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson serve as directors. Daniel Pemberton returns to provide the musical score.

Today is the twentieth anniversary of the premiere of Finding Nemo. The film was the fifth from acclaimed studio Pixar Animation Studios. The story follows a widowed Clownfish named Marlin who must team up with a Regal Blue Tang named Dory with memory problems in order to cross the ocean to save his son, the titular Nemo, from being trapped in an aquarium.

The film first began development in 1997, based on an idea from director Andrew Stanton's childhood going to a dentist with an aquarium, and further influenced by a trip with his son to Marine World in California. Today is the fortieth anniversary of the premiere of Return of the Jedi. The film is the final entry in the original trilogy of Star Wars, and released exactly six years to the day after the release of the original. RIP Ray Stevenson

Ray Stevenson has passed away. The actor died Monday while filming the upcoming film Cassino in Ischia. This was just four days before his fifty-ninth birthday. No cause of death was given.

He was born George Raymond Stevenson on May 25th, 1964 in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He was the second of three boys. As his father was in the Royal Air Force, his family moved to England when he was eight. He eventually graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Stevenson got his acting start playing a gigolo in The Theory of Flight. He then played Dagonet in the 2004 film King Arthur. Today is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the premiere of Godzilla. The film is the twenty-third in the famed franchise and the first made by an American studio. The story serves as a remake of the 1954 original and follows a group of military-led scientists who must learn the secret behind a skyscraper-sized lizard that is destroying New York City.

Today is the release of Fast X. The film is the eleventh in the long-running franchise. The film follows Dom Toretto and his friends as they must fend off the dangerous son of a drug lord that was previously defeated by the group costing the family their fortune.

Mother's Day 2023

Today is Mother's Day, honoring one's own mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. There have, of course, been many mothers in the Marvel Universe, though not all of them have been seen in animation.

Today is the fifteenth anniversary of Iron Man and the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film opened on May 2nd, 2008. The story follows billionaire weapon designer Tony Stark as he escapes from terrorists and decides to repent for his sinful life by becoming an armored superhero.

RIP Michael Reaves

Writer Michael Reaves has passed away according to longtime collaborator Steve Perry. Reaves died on March 20th at the age of seventy-two following a battle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his ex-wife Brynne Chandler and their three children.

He was born James Michael Reaves on September 14th, 1950 in San Bernardino, California. While he did poorly in school, he enjoyed writing short stories. In 1972, he was accepted by the Clarion Science Fiction Writers' Workshop. He moved to Los Angeles in 1974 where he worked various jobs before breaking into Hollywood. The following year, he had his first by selling a script for an episode of The Secrets of Isis.

RIP Lance Reddick

Last Friday, March 17th, actor Lance Reddick passed away from natural causes at the age of sixty. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick, and his children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.

Lance Solomon Reddick was born on June 7th, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland. As a teenager, he studied music at the Peabody Preparatory Institute and at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music. He eventually attended the Yale School of Drama receiving a Master of Fine Arts. In the mid-90s, he began acting with minor appearances in the sitcom The Nanny, drama series The West Wing, an uncredited appearance in the 1998 Godzilla series featuring Hank Azaria, and Law & Order as well as its spin-offs Special Victims Unit and Criminal Intent. …

Dopinder Swings Across the Spider-Verse

Deadpool's Kirsten Dunst, Dopinder, will finally get the chance to be the hero. Actor Karan Soni has been cast as the Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. RIP Burny Mattinson

Artist Burny Mattinson has passed away Monday morning following a short illness. He was eighty-seven years old. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Siirola; his son, Brett Mattinson, and his wife, Kelly, and their two children; and his daughter, Genny, her husband Larry Ellena, and their two children.

Disney's Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee said, "Burny's artistry, generosity, and love of Disney Animation and the generations of storytellers that have come through our doors, for seven decades, has made us better—better artists, better technologists, and better collaborators. RIP William Ruzicka

Artist William Ruzicka has passed away. The storyboard artist had been suffering from cold and flu symptoms for about a week. On February 1st when his conditions worsened, he tried to drive himself to a local urgent care but collapsed before reaching his car. Paramedics were called but were unable to resuscitate him. He was forty-five years old.

Longtime friend and collaborator Shaunt Nigoghossian announced his passing on LinkedIn saying "William was one of the sweetest, kindest, most hardworking people I've ever known. We’ve worked on seven shows together spanning twelve years time. He was a generous and thoughtful leader to his teams, a good friend and a good man."

Presidents Day 2023

In the United States of America, today is Presidents Day, celebrating the forty-five individual Presidents of the country. The day is celebrated as a federal holiday on this day to recognize the birthday of the first president, George Washington. The Incredible Hulk recreated Mount Rushmore which features the likeness of presidents Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Real-life president Bill Clinton was on Fantastic Four and Iron Man played by Jim Cummings. Hit Monkey Gets Second Season

The boys are back in town as Hulu has announced that their series Hit Monkey is getting a second season order. Actors Fred Tatasciore, Jason Sudeikis, Ally Maki, and Olivia Munn are returning and will be joined by Leslie Jones of Saturday Night Live fame. The series was created by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. While no details, the season will feature Hit-Monkey and Bryce going to New York City. No release date has been announced, but Hulu said the season was coming soon.

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day of memoriam for the victims of the Holocaust. During the tragic events, the horrors of Nazi Germany lead by Adolf Hitler resulted in the estimated deaths of six million Jewish people, two million Romani, two-hundred fifty thousand mentally and physically disabled, and nine thousand homosexuals. RIP Earl Boen

Earl Boen has passed away. Last fall, the actor was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He finally succumbed to the illness in Hawaii on January 5th at the age of eighty-one. He is survived by his wife Cathy, daughter Ruby, and two grandchildren Kimmy Abaricia and Kimo Harbin.

Boen was born on August 8th, 1941 in New York City. He began acting on stage in the 1950s before making his way to Hollywood. 2 Years of the United States Capitol Terrorist Attack

Today marks the two year anniversary of the 2021 United States Capitol attack. It was on that date that domestic terrorists invaded the United States Capitol Building in an attempt to stop the certification of the previous year's presidential election while also attempting to murder numerous members of the government. At the time, Congress had been meeting for the formality of certifying the election of the new president. The president had spent months claiming the election would be rigged against him to explain any potential lost, so when he did lose re-election he called on his supporters to overturn the election by force. 30 Years of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Today marks the thirtieth anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The series ran for one-hundred seventy-three episodes across seven seasons from January 3rd, 1993 to June 2nd, 1999. The series followed the crew of the space station Deep Space Nine as it helps the newly liberated planet of Bajor while discovering the galaxy's first stable wormhole.

The series was the fourth in the franchise and a spin-off of the massively popular The Next Generation. Stan Lee's 100th Birthday

For fans of comic books, there is one man who needs no introduction. He has been the face of Marvel Comics since the 1960s when he helped create some of the most iconic figures. Today would have been the legendary comic book icon Stan Lee's one-hundredth birthday had he not passed away in 2018.

He, along with several other artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, created Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Hulk, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and many others.

Happy Kwanzaa 2022

Today is the first day of Kwanzaa, the week-long celebration honoring universal African heritage and culture in the United States and Canada. The celebration lasts from December 26th to January 1st, ending in a feast and gift-giving. It was created by Black Power activist Maulana Karenga and first celebrated in 1966. The day was originally created as an alternative to Christmas, considered by Karenga to be a "white" holiday, but later altered to be an additional holiday so as to not offend Christian African-Americans. Kwanzaa is dedicated to the principles of unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

Merry Christmas Eve 2022

In the Christian faith today is Christmas Eve.

Tonight, every good girl and boy will be visited by Santa Claus who checked his list twice in order to deliver elf-made presents from his sleigh. So make sure your stockings are hung by the fire with care.

Make sure you got all your decorations and lights up. Enjoy your Christmas tree with your star on top.

Hope you finished all your shopping since all the department stores will be closed tomorrow.

Today marks the eighty-fifth anniversary of a landmark in animation, the premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Based on the German fairy tale, the movie follows the beautiful Snow White as she tries to escape her evil stepmother, the Queen, who wishes to be the fairest of them all as she encounters a gorgeous prince and seven helpful dwarfs.
